Madan Meena
Painter, researcher and writer, Dr. Madan Meena was born in 1974 in the small village of Narayanpur, District Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.  Â
The simplicity of the rural life in which his roots are embedded has influenced all his artistic facets. His paintings, contemporary works of a sublime redemption of simple patterns and elements from nature, have been exhibited in more than 25 solo and group exhibitions across India and abroad. His doctoral dissertation from the University of Rajasthan was on Art of the Meena Tribes and his extensive work on the subject led him to publish two unique books that are themselves pieces of art, Nurturing Walls and Joy of Creativity.Â
Trees being a recurrent motif in Madan Meena’s creative output, the cerebellum, known as the Tree of Life, was a natural choice for the artist’s expression of the structures that compose the brain.Â
In a single pink stroke that simplifies the multi layered folding of the cerebellum, with the fluidity of his abstract line Madan Meena captures the important role that this structure plays for movement. A pair of black strands frayed with neurons and fibres makes a bridge from the gross to the micro anatomy, evoking the tree-like fractal geometry of the brain structure.
